My Story
I have always been inspired by the magnificence of Chicago and all of the possibilities here. Chicago is a major part of my feng shui journey, and it is where it all began…
There I was, newly married and living in the South Loop. I had a new teaching job and workout regimen that kept me busy. My husband and I had finally emerged from the credit card debt that accumulated from planning a downtown wedding. I guess things were starting to look up. Maybe it was the post-wedding blues (supposedly that’s “a thing”), but I still felt like something was missing and longed for something more.
From the outside things seemed to be going pretty good, so what was wrong?
As I looked around our apartment, I had an uneasy feeling. All the walls were stark white and hadn’t been painted since we moved in three years ago. In my spare time, I decided I would start to spruce up the place; make it a little more welcoming and comfortable. That’s when I discovered feng shui!
I learned how to arrange furniture and use the bagua map to decorate with specific shapes and colors so that our home looked and felt better. Our apartment finally felt more inviting, but to my surprise, feng shui did much more than enhance the aesthetic appeal.
The months following the feng shui adjustments were a total whirlwind!
My husband and I found out we were expecting our first baby, and he had gotten an exciting advancement in his career. I started to feel less uneasy and more fulfilled in my day-to-day life. More importantly, that new calm was transferred to my second home, my classroom. I quickly learned that when you create a flow of consistency between your personal and professional life, you can breathe easier. Life just feels lighter!
The knowledge of feng shui was too good to keep to myself, so I earned my Feng Shui Consultant Certification from the Feng Shui School of Chicago with Laurie Pawli, a student of the late Professor Lin Yun, who brought the BTB School to the U.S. from China in the 1980’s. It has been nearly a decade since I started to experience the power of feng shui. Feng shui continues to serve my family and I in mystical ways! I live a feng shui lifestyle because it empowers me to fulfill my dreams with grace and ease. It is my intention to teach you about the magic of feng shui so that you too can design the life you deserve.
